Hidden treasures
I finished glazing and painting the dining-room window. Now, if I decide to do the one in the bathroom, then I only have that one left. I had considered putting in a glass block window with a vent, but I don’t know if I will. If I do, then I’m done with double-hung windows. Someone painted over the sash cord pulleys on this window and upon further inspection I found they had caulked them shut too. It wasn’t easy getting the caulk out of them.
When I removed the window l found that there were four window weights inside the wall. I used one from the upper sash for the living room window, so now it works as it should. I also took the time to clean it because I hadn’t done that before whilst in my disgruntaledness. I didn’t need to mount the upper sash permanently up as I had done in previous windows because I had one weight and the sash fit snugly into the frame. I put the sash cords in the lower sash, put on the stops and job done!. This window has both storm windows but lacks a proper screen. Though it has a cheap screen made from a kit, it won’t be long before that needs replacing, so I build one at work.
